Welcome to the Roosevelt Elementary Library Media Center!

My name is Tekiela Gallagher.  This is my second year at Roosevelt Elementary, and I am delighted to fill the role of Teacher Librarian!  I am a retired Air Force Veteran, and I am very excited to facilitate our student's library this year.  Please come by anytime and relax and enjoy a great book.  I will provide many experiences for our students to become SUPER READERS!

The library’s mission is to help students achieve success in reading.  We will provide them with a variety of texts and opportunities to read, expand their literacy vocabulary and fluency, use their imagination and innovative skills to conduct STEM maker space activities, and engage in digital literacy enhancement to ensure they're on the pathway to be successful in today's digital generation.

Why Should My Child Read at Home?

Reading with children is fun and one of the best ways to retain and improve reading skills.  Children learn about the value and importance of reading as they watch their family reading and writing in everyday life.

Your child must read every night in order to become a more fluent reader.  Helping your child become a better reader will ensure success in campus and state assessments.

Tips to Help Your Child Read at Home

  • Provide a quiet environment.

  • Provide good lighting.

  • Provide comfortable seating or allow your child to lay down to read if preferable.

  • Children should not be interrupted while they are reading.

  • Have a set time for your child to read daily.
